Activity 1 - Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering

MR Image Processing Core

The Magnetic Resonance (MR) Processing Core serves the needs of researchers in the MR Research Facility at Queen's Hospital. Specifically, the MR Image Processing Core provides image processing support, infrastructure development, methodological development and training.

Activity 3 - Tropical Infectious Diseases Detection and Prevention

Services

Provide viruses and other microbial pathogens, antibodies and other reagents to investigators to conduct basic and applied research on tropical infectious disease pathogens.

Provide training to new investigators on microbiologic and serologic assays needed to conduct research on specific pathogens.

Provide basic microbiologic and serologic services, including producing selected reagents, conducting customized assays such plaque-reduction neutralization test, and provide assistance in the vivarium and insectary to manipulate experimentally infected animals and insects.

Services

Assist in planning animal experiments, conducting necropsies, and proper fixation and storage of tissues and cells.

Provide selected and customized services, including routine histologic and immunologic staining for pathology and pathogen detection, in situ hybridization, cryosections, and negative staining.

Assist in fluorescence and confocal microscopy.

  1. Develop expertise in structural equation modeling.
  2. Develop a web-based system for data entry.
  3. Develop power/sample size calculation software for multivariate statistics.
  4. Develop software tools for analysis of gene-environment interactions.
